TezBytes was building FieldAXIS — field operations software for distributor networks — and needed the world outside our codebase to understand it. We did what most product teams do: looked for a marketing agency.
What we heard repeatedly
- Spend more on ads and you will rank better.
- The algorithm decides — trust the process.
- Retainers before clarity on who we were actually trying to reach.
We are engineers. We build systems where inputs produce outputs you can inspect. Told that visibility is mostly luck and budget, something did not add up. Search engines and ad platforms are software. They have rules, signals, and feedback loops — not slot machines.
What was actually missing
None of the agencies we spoke to started with how FieldAXIS customers find software today — search intent, dealer-network vocabulary, or the difference between a distributor CEO and a field rep reading a blog at 10pm.
They sold channels. We needed someone to connect product truth to discoverability.
What we did instead
A TezBytes team member took ownership: learned SEO fundamentals, structured the FieldAXIS site and content, and ran organic experiments we could measure. It was slower than signing a retainer — but we could explain every change we made.
That work is visible on FieldAXIS today. It also changed how we talk to MSME clients who adopt automation or custom software from us but still run on referrals and WhatsApp with almost no digital presence.
Why this became OpenMarket
The same pattern kept appearing in businesses we audited: strong operations, weak discoverability, and agency quotes that assumed enterprise budgets.
OpenMarket is TezBytes offering the approach we wished existed — workflow-first marketing for MSMEs, scoped to how you actually sell, without mysticism about algorithms.
