Enterprise order systems love binary outcomes: approved or rejected. Distribution rarely works that way.
A dealer places a meaningful order at the counter. Stock is mostly available. Credit needs a branch manager's input. A scheme threshold is one line item away. Rejecting the order loses the deal. Approving it blindly creates downstream chaos.
The missing state: hold
A hold status preserves intent while questions resolve:
- The order stays visible to HQ and the rep.
- The dealer knows it is recorded, not forgotten.
- Credit or inventory teams see exactly what needs a decision.
- When cleared, the order continues without re-entry.
This sounds small. On a busy route it prevents dozens of silent failures — deals that died because "we will call you back" never made it to a system.
FieldAXIS models order lifecycle for exactly this reality. The product blog explains the field behaviour: How to hold an order for clarification without killing the deal.
TezBytes OpenTrade helps distributors configure these flows for how they actually sell — not how a generic cart checkout assumes they sell.
